Are you interested in Japanese Calligraphy? Would you like to see how we can combine calligraphy and artwork? Please come join the workshop to see the demonstrations of a Japanese calligraphy artist.

Time: 5 pm Dinner with the Artists, 6 pm – 7 pm Calligraphy Art Workshop (limited to 25 participants)
Please join us for a Shamisen and Taiko concert and learn about Japanese instruments.
Daisuke Sugiyama is a Shamisen player, who has been playing the Tsugaru Shamisen since he was 10 years old. He has played for "Monkey Majik Live at BUDOKAN - 15th Anniversary" and the TV Anime "Those Snow White."
Yusuke Kimura is a Wadaiko, Japanese drum, player, who has been playing since he was 10 years old. He has performed all around the world - in Japan, Taiwan, Oman, Estonia and the US. He experiments with different instruments to explore the possibilities of Taiko culture.
Date: Friday, April 24, 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm (50 participants, dinner not included)
Current and former Japanese Language students, their families and friends, and anyone interested in learning about Japanese language and culture are invited.
Activities: Showcasing Japanese culture presented by Showa Boston Institute students (calligraphy, yukata try-on, tea ceremony, etc.), lunch with Showa Boston Institute students serving as informal language exchange partners, followed by a J-pop concert.
